Good Old Days

Most of you can recognise all the four beautiful ladies in this picture ! Those of you who cannot......you'll know gradually.

Fifty years back in India, having a photograph taken must have been a big deal. Not many photographs were taken so people wanted to give their best pose. Just one or two photographs brought so much joy to people back then. It was nothing like today, when you can just click your digital camera or even your phone and capture moments with hundreds of photos. Mordern techniques has made life so easy and you can just pick the best photos and have them framed or however you want to display them.

Back then, photographs were rare. People kept them with great care. One photograph could relate to one story after another. It could bring back several memories. There are many such precious photographs of my family, which I will keep posting it here in My Blog now and then. But for now let's talk about this particular picture which I found in an old album in Patna.

In the above picture, I am sure all of them got dressed up for some celebration in the family and decided to get a group picture taken ! And I am sure this photograph in itself has many stories and laughters to reveal. Well, I am asking all these pretty ladies in this photograph to share the precious memories this photograph could reveal ! So, Amma, mummy, S.Fua and C.Fua.....
please let us know how, when and why this photograph was taken. We would love to hear any story related to it. So please share.

And if any of you have an old time photograph, please share it with us on this blog and the memories related to it. I am sure your stories will brighten up our days, and bring us all even closer than ever.

  • Before I comment on the blog I would like to narrate a story (rather joke)which is answre to Kakku's GUPP THAT GUDIYA RESEMBLES ME.When Atul Vipul was in loyola a boy(2 years senior to Atul)used to go with them.Once after parent teacher meetAtul and that boy both came to my college as they had to go home with me.A colleague of mine, many of you must be knowing her by name--Priyadarshini Narayan enquired who was he.Ijust joked that Atul is the younger son and the boy is my elder son.On listening to this she screamed---Baap re Meenadi bada wala toh ekdam apne papa ka duplicate lagta hai aur chota(i.e.Atul)toh aaplog me se kisi ko resemble nahi karta hai.Can you'll digest this ? wahi kakku kiya ki gudiya mere tarah lagti hai jabki till today i have always been listening that gudiya is like c.fufa/mausa.HA HA HA HA HA
Regarding the antique photo i remember nothing when & at what occasion it was clicked. But one thing comes to my mind ki jarur humlogon ka dress s.bhabhi ka tailored hoga bec.woh humlogon ko khub kapada silker pahnati thi.I really got emotional to see it as those were the days when we enjoyed utmost gossiping and that too at the time of lunch & dinner.Dadi/nani khub pukarti rahti thi & humlog ka gupp khatam hota tab na jaatey and finally when we used to reach her we had to face a long scolding. Is photo se related veena didi jarur kuch batayegi bec her memory is very sharp , hum toh RATTU TOTA thahre.

  • Fua Kakku bh gup nahi maar raha hai. Till date even I used to think that guria di resembles fufa but in this photograph she really looks like you.
Fua photo dekh ke bahut maza aaya ek dum bolne ka mann kiya - "chalo sakhi mela ghoome"
Once I remember after Sangeeta di's marriage Daddy took the remaining 6 girls for a studio photo. Anjali di, me, Bobby di, Guria di, Dolly and Bui. We had such a great time. Woh photo bhi bahut achha aaya tha.
MISSING OLD TIMES...... KITNA MAZA AATA THA......

  • Pyari Anjali,
Jab tumhari mummy 64 mein shadi ho kar aayi thi to humko bahut khushi hui thi. Humko bahut shauk tha ki hum log saath photo khichvaen, aur Beena, Meena choti thi isliye unko bhi saath le liya, aur jakar studio mein photo kichvaya tha.
